How do you add a touch of femininity to an ultra-masculine figure like Arnold Schwarzenegger? Benedicte Ringnes has found her very personal solution to the challenge. She is mixing famous photographs with iconic symbols and more domestic details, adding her personal touch to a visual universe. The body and personae of the artist and former bodybuilder is distorted and mixed in a way that is experienced as both positive and challenging. She turns the iconic figure and the world famous man into a personal story of how we encounter fame and masculinity.

Mrs. Benedicte Aubert Ringnes is both usual and unusual in her approach to art. Dealing with popular culture is not uncommon, but the way she uses a popular figure like the celebrity artist, actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger, is very personal and quite unique.

With a background as a film-maker, Benedicte Ringnes came to a point where her creativity could not be caged within the industry’s limitations. Becoming an independent artist was long overdue. She is extremely skilled in her use of digital media, but the artistic quality appears when she mixes this with manual techniques. She gives her pictures an unique and extraordinary, finishing touch by enclosing her art in a layer of glossy varnish.

The exhibition in the Oslo-gallery “Galleri A” will be opened by Mr. Lars Elton, Norway’s most merited art critic. He found Mrs. Ringnes’s art intriguing, and he has stated that he would never have tought that he would find anything concerning Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger interesting. But he thinks that the way Mrs. Ringnes deals with the famous actor etc. is most interesting. Therefore he has agreed to collaborate with Mrs. Ringnes for this show
